Our treatment and research facility is headed by Dr. Koonlawee Nademanee, a world renowned cardiologist specializing in cardiac electrophysiology and director of the Pacific Rim Electrophysiology Research Institute at White Memorial Medical Center, Los Angeles, California, and the Pacific Rim Electrophysiology Research Institute at Maui Memorial Hospital, Maui, Hawaii.
Dr. Nademanee’s thirty years of experience in cardiac electrophysiology in the USA and around the world led him to establish a top-tier cardiac electrophysiology research institute in Thailand. His inspiration was in line with the vision of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth, to further enhance Thailand’s reputation as a center of tertiary excellence with the creation of an international standard research institute.
Pacific Rim Electrophysiology Research Institute at Bangkok Hospital is a cardiac electrophysiology research institute specializing in arrhythmia and cardiovascular disease research. The institute also receives strong support from the management team of Bangkok Hospital, in particular that of Dr. Chatree Duangnet, Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Pradub Sukhum, Director of Bangkok Heart Hospital.
Pacific Rim Electrophysiology Research Institute at Bangkok Hospital was established with the following objectives:
- To conduct research relating to cardiovascular disease and arrhythmia. At Pacific Rim Electrophysiology Institute at Bangkok Hospital, ongoing research is conducted on Brugada syndrome (called lai tai in Thailand) in collaboration with Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital.
- To be a resource center providing training to cardiologists from government and private hospitals in Thailand and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
- To be leaders in treatment for a variety of irregular heart rhythms (cardiac arrhythmias), utilizing minimally-invasive cardiac services with international standard quality.
- To be equipped with advanced technology and offer innovative treatment options.
