According to statistics, it is estimated that in 2021, Thailand will become a Complete Aged Society. It is found that the elderly population in Thailand still faces health problems due to chronic diseases, and some are unable to take care of themselves, such as eating, using the restroom, and dressing. Up to 5% of these elderly individuals inevitably become a burden to their close acquaintances. Common problems among the elderly who have accidents at home include hip fractures and brain injuries, which causes high rates of disability and mortality.
Dr. Nivat Intharawichian, Deputy Director of Bangkok Hospital and Dr. Pakphum Chulaphumipat, Assistant Director of Bangkok Hospital, presided over the opening of the “Don’t Let the Elderly Fall and Can’t Get Up” event, caring for the elderly who slip and fall, risking injuries to the brain and hip fractures, campaigning for grandchildren to join in prevention for a better quality of elderly life on Elderly Day
