Eye and Lasik Center Bangkok Hospital Partners with KTC for  “Prevention is Better Than Cure: Insights into Eyesight” Seminar to Raise Awareness of Hidden Eye Health Threats for Thais of All Ages.

Eye and Lasik Center at Bangkok Hospital has partnered with KTC to organize a knowledge-sharing seminar on “Prevention is Better Than Cure: Insights into Eyesight.” This event addresses in-depth information on eye health and highlights the dangers of eye problems. It also points out the increasing trend of eye health issues in childhood, emphasizing the importance of early intervention. Additionally, the seminar unveils the newly upgraded Eye and Lasik Center at Bangkok Hospital, which has been transformed from a department into Thailand’s only specialized eye disease treatment center. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and staffed by over 80 expert ophthalmologists and a multidisciplinary team who provide services to ensure the health of your eyes.

Dr. Tarinee Sa-Ngiampornpanit, Director, Eye and Lasik Center Bangkok Hospital, stated, “From past statistics, the number of people seeking advice and eye treatment at Bangkok Hospital has increased significantly. In 2023, approximately 200 people received services daily, resulting in approximately 10% increase from the previous year. In response, Bangkok Hospital has opened an Eye and Lasik Center to respond to the growing demand. The centers provide a complete range of examination, treatment, and surgical options for patients of all ages, whether it be general eye diseases or complex conditions. They are equipped to address every eye problem, including myopia, congenital presbyopia, astigmatism, and age-related presbyopia. Its team of highly experienced and expert ophthalmologists, along with the use of innovative medical technology and modern diagnostic tools, ensure comprehensive vision correction services. This includes various forms of laser vision correction and ICL lens implants. In the past, we have provided surgical services to correct vision problems for over 3,500 cases.”

“In today’s society, people of all ages increasingly use technological devices, which accelerates the deterioration of eyesight. At our Lasik Center, we are prepared to care for individuals with eye health problems across all age groups. For example, children may experience eye diseases such as squint, myopia, or macular degeneration in premature infants. Adolescents often suffer from myopia due to prolonged use of phones and computer screens. Elderly individuals frequently encounter issues like cataracts, glaucoma, and pterygium. Additionally, we provide care for other eye conditions, including corneal diseases, retinal problems, uveitis, and cosmetic ophthalmic surgery. Our center is equipped with advanced tools and equipment for comprehensive eye analysis, including laser eye disease treatments and standard surgical instruments to ensure that our patients receive holistic and effective eye care.”

“In addition to the high treatment standards that Bangkok Hospital prioritizes, we have revamped the Eye and Lasik Center to incorporate Smart Services. This includes designing a creative and relaxing environment to offer proportional access to care services with complete amenities, ensuring the privacy of our patients. Key areas include doctor consultation zones, medical equipment zones, waiting areas, and eye drop rooms. We emphasize holistic treatment and comprehensive care for eye problems across all age groups to help everyone achieve good eye health and sharp vision, allowing them to comfortably and confidently engage in daily life and various activities. Although some conditions may be more challenging to treat, our team of specialized ophthalmologists collaborates to plan the best treatment. Additionally, we have a dedicated team of nurses and staff who work together to provide comprehensive care.”

Dr. Thidanan Rattanatam, an ophthalmologist who specializes in corneas and vision correction surgery at Bangkok Hospital, adds, “Addressing the issues of nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or age-related longsightedness has become increasingly feasible thanks to modern medical techniques and technology. At Bangkok Hospital, we adhere to the highest standards, performing various procedures in rooms equipped with temperature and humidity control and a sterile environment that meets globally recognized JCI standards. Our ophthalmologists carefully select personalized technology for each individual to ensure optimal treatment outcomes. This includes the ‘ReLEx Smile’ procedure which uses a laser to adjust the curvature of the cornea to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism through small incisions of only 2-4 millimeters, avoiding the need to open the corneal cap. This method maintains corneal strength, reduces dry eye symptoms, and is fast, safe, and comfortable. Additionally, ‘FemtoLasik’ or bladeless Lasik is used to correct congenital nearsightedness and astigmatism. This procedure is quick and safe at every laser step. Bangkok Hospital distinguishes itself from others with techniques like ‘FemtoLasik Presbyond,’ a bladeless Lasik procedure. This method corrects farsightedness caused by age-related deterioration of focusing muscles and corneal lens. Presbyond involves using a laser to adjust the corneal curvature, enabling clear vision at various distances: far, intermediate, and near (increased depth of focus), enhancing overall visual field. Our ophthalmologists boast over a decade of experience with Presbyond, having performed more than 1,000 eye surgeries. For those with nearsightedness and astigmatism, the latest innovation, ‘ICL Supplementary Lens,’ offers a solution. These lenses can correct up to 1,800 degrees of nearsightedness and 600 degrees of astigmatism without thinning the cornea. The procedure involves a small incision, resulting in minimal dryness and clear vision even at night.”

Miss Sireerat Corvanich, Head of Credit Card Marketing, “KTC” or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited, revealed, “Based on KTC cardmembers’ spending behavior, there has been a steady increase in health and beauty category over the past 5 months. The volume of hospital, beauty, fitness, and sports group spending grew significantly by 14%, with an average usage frequency of 5 times per person per year. Bangkok Hospital (Soi Soonvijai) total KTC Credit Card spending volume increased over 34%.”

“Today, visiting a doctor for corrective and cosmetic procedures is becoming increasingly common. Eye health poses a silent risk that can interfere with daily life. However, with modern treatment innovations and advanced medical facilities staffed by highly experienced specialists, treatments now offer quick healing and minimal recovery time. This helps patients regain confidence and return to their daily routines with ease.
