Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, in collaboration with Bangkok Hospital, organized a field trip as part of the Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) 2025. This year’s conference is themed “Harnessing Technologies in an Age of AI to Build a Healthier World”, focusing on leveraging technological advancements to ensure equitable and inclusive healthcare access for all.
The field trip, held on January 30, 2025, at Bangkok Hospital, centered around “Exploring the AI Healthcare Ecosystem in Thailand: A Journey from Invention to Nationwide Implementation.” The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, and welcomed by Dr. Poramaporn Prasarttong-Osoth, President &Group CEO & of BDMS Group 1.
Bangkok Hospital hosted the site visit, with Dr. Kawalin Rangsininaporn, Assistant Hospital Director and Director of the Health Design Center, leading participants through a demonstration of AI CXR technology. This AI-powered chest X-ray system, developed by innovators from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital in collaboration with Perceptra, has been continuously refined and is now undergoing consideration for inclusion in Thailand’s national healthcare benefits package. The AI CXR technology exemplifies a groundbreaking Thai innovation that has gained medical acceptance, passed rigorous safety and efficacy evaluations, and received cross-sectoral support for national implementation.
This field trip provided a valuable platform for international scholars and policymakers attending PMAC 2025 to exchange insights and experiences. By sharing expertise on integrating AI into healthcare, the event contributed to shaping future strategies for more effective patient care.
