Information for Authors
Bangkok Health Research Center (BHRC) is a research support unit locates in Bangkok Hospital Headquarters (BHQ) in Bangkok, providing support for health and medical research in both hospitals and non-hospital units of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS). In order to increase quantity and up-lift quality of research, BHRC provides training and consultation for researchers and also works in collaboration with several research partners in Thailand and other countries. BHRC as part of BHQ, has been qualified by AO Foundation to be AO Clinical Study Center (AOCSC) since 2014 for three years and renewed in 2017 for three more years, indicating that research coordination and training provided by BHRC is at the acceptable level of AO Foundation.
In line with the Royal Thai Government’s policy to promote research and innovation, the Center has applied and been approved by the Revenue Department since 2015 making the sponsors for research projects conducted by BHRC eligible for taxes benefits. To further strengthen research capacity of BHQ and BDMS, an Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Bangkok Hospital has been established in 2014, independently from BHRC, to review and evaluate all research projects that are performed at BDMS. This mechanism enables the BHRC to initiate and/or participate efficiently in broader perspectives of clinical, medical and health research projects. This IRB is recognized by Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) and accredited by the Forum of Ethical Review Committee in Asian and Western Pacific Region (FERCAP).
To disseminate research findings, BHRC also supports The Bangkok Medical Journal (online ISSN 2287-0237, print ISSN 2228-9674), which is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes medical articles twice a year since 2011. Over 25,000 hard copies of each issue are distributed free of charge to subscribers, medical, health and academic institutes in Thailand and other countries. Currently the Journal is listed in the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI) database. Altogether, BHRC play catalytic roles in promoting quality research and utilizing research findings for BDMS and partner agencies.
